How Much Does A YouTuber With 200,000 Subscribers Make?

UPDATE 8/4/2017: I currently have 240,000 subscribers. I make ~$12,000 per month. $3,000 comes from YouTube ad revenue and $9,000 comes from selling this digital marketing course. If you want to learn how to create your own infotainment YouTube channel you can get my course here: HowToYouTube.com

A couple months ago I went public with how much I made from my YouTube channel:

I make roughly $11,000 per month. About 65% of it comes from the affiliate cut I get from selling this online course.

About 30% comes from YouTube Ad Revenue:

And about 5% comes from other sponsorships, affiliates and partnerships like the one I have with WayUp where they pay me $0.75 for each user I get to sign up for their website.

I also get perks:

  • I attended a coding bootcamp in exchange for videos. They provided housing
  • I get free premium accounts to several platforms like Wix, Shopify, etc.
  • I've sold 3 condos in the Philippines with this video. I earned a 2% commission from each sale so I roughly made $7,500 from that video.

I'd like to address 2 FAQs:

Question: There's no way you're making that amount! I know YouTubers with way more subscribers and they only make a fraction of that! You're lying!

Answer: While it is true that more views and subscribers does generally mean more money, there are 2 things that are often misunderstood when it comes to making money off YouTube.  (1) Views are worth a different amount depending on the industry. Since I'm in the education industry my views are worth a lot more than views in the entertainment industry. The ads played on my channel are more expensive therefore YouTube pays me more money. (2) Since I'm helping someone with their career it makes sense for me to sell something that helps them with their career. The easiest thing to sell is education because if people can see themselves making money from the knowledge (e.g. college, coding bootcamps) then it's easy to convince them why it's worth the cost.

Question: That's really interesting Matt. I'm thinking about starting a channel myself. Would it be cool if we could jump on a call so I can ask you a few questions?

Answer: I just released a course on how to make a successful infotainment channel:HowToYouTube.com. In the course, I give my best advice and layout strong paradigm shifts in how you will go about creating a channel. There is a 30-day money back guarantee so you have nothing to lose!

5 Ways You Can Help Students Learn Math & Science

5 Ways You Can Help Students Learn Math & Science

Nowadays, STEM education drives public schools’ curriculum decisions. According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) 2015 national report card, the majority (up to 72%) of America’s public school 8th graders performed at the basic levels in reading, math, and science.

To address the poor academic performance in these areas, schools augment professional development to increase capacity and improve instruction and learning in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Teachers engage in STEM cohorts where they learn from engineers, mathematicians, researchers, and scientists. Such cohorts are designed to increase teachers’ application of STEM strategies in the classroom for expanded understanding of the taught skills and concepts.

STEM strategies are designed to help teachers and students identify the reasons behind the processes and applications.  Here are five ways engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and technology experts can collaborate with schools to help students learn more math and science:

  • Build a relationship with your local school district and neighborhood school. Introduce yourself to your local school board, superintendent, administrators, secretaries, teachers, and other school employees. All school employees serve as liaisons to school leadership, so foster cordial relationships with as many as you can.

  • Offer to serve your local school district and/or school by volunteering on science, technology, math, and science curriculum committees. Your experience, knowledge, and training may benefit schools with curriculum decisions, textbook adoptions, and professional development ideas.

  • Volunteer to tutor students in a before or after school STEM program. Tutoring is an authentic, valuable intervention model, especially tutoring programs that track instructional methods and student progress. Talk to your local school administrator about serving as a STEM tutor.

  • Determine your level of commitment.
    1. Are you available for the entire school year? A semester? A quarter? What days and times will you tutor?
    2. What do you want your students to learn?
    3. How will you know they are learning?
    4. What will you do if they are not learning?
    5. What will you do if they are learning quickly?

  • Offer to present to teachers at professional learning opportunities. Through your school liaison, discover ways in which you can use your expertise to serve the teachers in your local school. Talk to your school administrator to discover the professional development planning process. If there is room for you to serve there, commit to developing and implementing a session to train teachers on STEM techniques and concepts.

Middle school Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) teacher Rachel Kissner, MA, believes students learn best from role models directly related to STEM and STEAM. “Students need to see how engineers help people and society. Often in grades K-12, science and engineering are taught as something outside of society, like Spock in Star Trek. When students see how scientists and engineers affect their world and make it a better place, they are more likely to engage in the content and start seeing themselves as part of the science and engineering community.”

Students need to improve reading, math, and science knowledge. You can help students make real-world connections to the learning processes so they are able to improve their decision-making in real-life and on high-stakes standardized tests.  Your involvement in the learning process can make a positive impact on student learning and could help students feel more confident about their abilities in STEM.

How To Prepare For A Coding Bootcamp

If you are planning to take a coding bootcamp, there are things you should consider before your first day at camp. If you enrolled on a Web Development bootcamp then you can apply these tips.

  1.     Go to FreeCodeCamp.com and do everything until advance algorithm & scripting.

FreeCodeCamp is an open source community that can help you to learn code. There’s no need to do advance algorithm and scripting on this community in order to be ready for bootcamp. But if you have more time, then do it. That will make you more ready for bootcamp. With FreeCodeCamp you can learn skills like JavaScript.

  1.       Get additional practice with html/css by creating a personal portfolio, and cloning websites that you like

After learning on FreeCodeCamp you can try making your own good projects and put it on your portfolio. This can help you practice what you’ve learned and easily apply it on bootcamp. You can also try to clone a website you like.

  1. Take an online AngularJS course. I like Teamtreehouse's course much more than codeschool or codecademy.

After learning and applying JavaScript, HTML and CSS, take an online AngularJS course. One of the good online AngularJS courses is Teamtreehouse. You can learn web design and coding from more than 1000 videos on this course. Here's an affiliate link to Team Treehouse: http://engineeredtruth.com/TTH

  1. You don't need to learn bootstrap

You don’t really need to learn bootstrap before attending bootcamp but it will be helpful for you to easily make a responsive website.

  1. You should absolutely learn code before going to a bootcamp to get the most out of it.

Before attending a bootcamp, it is important that you already know the basics because if you don’t it will be hard for you to learn advanced skills. Learning the basics while on the bootcamp will only eat your time that will result to learning few skills and waste of money and time.

How to Use Facebook Ads To Grow Your Business – 4 Steps from a Self-Made Millionaire

“Business is all about getting a lot exposure so people know who you are.”

With over 1.86 billion monthly active users worldwide, Facebook is the easiest place to grow your business. Facebook is putting its game to whole next level especially their advertising since 2004. Over the years there are more than 4 million businesses are now advertising on Facebook. Facebook advertising is important and helpful in your business. By using this you can select your audience or the people you want to read your advertisement or choose where and what time you want your ad to run. This platform will also help you monitor your page's performance/s by providing you statistics on how things are going.

John Lee, a self-made millionaire, CEO and co-founder of Wealth Dragons, the most popular event company share some tips on how to use Facebook Ads to grow your business.

1. Hook

If you want your audience to click your advertisement, you have to be specific with your content. For example, you are selling iPhone. You can write on your ad like “5 Reasons why you should buy iPhone instead of Samsung.” The audience should be hook on your content the first time they saw it. Some keywords you can use on your content are Free, Because, Steps To. These are words that can  open their curiosity.

2. Description has to match the hook

Your hook or the title of your ad should match your description. Sometimes clickbait don't really work on advertisements. In order for them to click this two should always match. Your ad's description should be short. Don't give so much information in the description, it should be short because Facebook don't let too long descriptions run.

3. Picture matches your hook

If you're product is about iPhone, then your image should be an iPhone. If it happened to be not, then it will lessen the click on your ads'.

4. Strong call to action

Call to action is word or short sentence designed for your target audience that will instruct them to take an action like Call now, Buy now and Visit a store today!

5. Mobile Optimize your Ad

You have to make sure that your ad will fit on your audience's mobile that they don't have to scroll down and up form them to see it.

“If you're spending too much money is that these five tips are not meant.” John Lee added.

College vs coding bootcamp

Choosing between college and coding bootcamp might be hard for someone because of so many factors. College has been the only reliable place to learn something. Now that several programs are booming like bootcamps it might be hard for you to choose. Here is a simple guide that may help you decide.

Time
Coding bootcamp is a technical training program which usually last form 8 to 13 weeks while college will take 2 to 4 years to finish. Some bootcamps, like DevMountain, offer all full time students housing near the campus. This is great because it will save time and money. Just imagine waking up early to go to school and spending money for gas or public transportation. With bootcamps, you can spend most of your time focusing on your study and projects.

Curriculum
In a computer science course, you will learn Java or C++ while with bootcamp you'll learn Ruby and Javascript. When studying at a coding bootcamp, they will provide you tons of online sources which can help you while with college your only reliable source when you're having trouble is mostly textbooks. Bootcamps will teach you the specific skills you can apply on building web apps with the latest tech you need. With this, there is a high possibility that you will excel as a start up compared to taking a computer science course. Most universities are using curriculum from their past school years which may result to not learning what you can really use when you graduated.

Cost
If cost is an issue then a coding bootcamp is for you. Most bootcamps may cost $10,000 or $15,000 while one year in college may cost you triple or quadruple the cost of a coding bootcamp.

Matt graduated at Devmountain one of the cheapest coding bootcamps in US. If you want to know more about coding bootcamp and his personal project for this bootcamp, click the video below.

How To Prepare For A Job Interview

1. Determine how formal the job interview is going to be      Identify if you are going on a job interview for a startup or bigger company. Most of startup companies don't have a standard hiring process compared to bigger companies. Also, if you're interviewing for a startup you don't have to prepare for a specific questions because most likely the interview will be a natural conversation. On the other hand, if it’s on a bigger company you should study the typical interview questions.

2. Get into shape
According to a study, employers perceived obese candidates as inefficient. They are perceived to be sick more often that will result to less productivity and healthcare costs.

3. Dress appropriately
Remember that first impression lasts. Therefore your appearance is extremely important. You have to know the culture of the company, if they are wearing casual you should be on a business casual and if they're wearing business casual wear something professional. Select an attire that fits you well to make a good looking appearance and comfortable on the job interview. You can see below my custom made suit from Cotton Brew. It is the only men wear company who made to measurements suits. You can use my code   ENGINEEREDTRUTH to get 17% on your made to measure suits. Lastly, make sure your chosen attire is clean and ironed.

4. Avoid drinking caffeine                           Coffee will always be a companion every morning, however drinking coffee before a job interview is a bad idea. For some, it will cause them to experience heart palpitations. We don't want the employers sees us comfortable or being nervous that will result to talk faster.

5. Drive the conversation
A typical job interview format is a question and answer. Instead try to make it a conversation to have you both comfortable to each other.
6. Don't state qualities, show them
Instead of telling the recruiter of your qualities, share some story or experience where your qualities shows.
7. Body Language
Expert says to aim a neutral post like sitting tall to show that you're attentive. It is also important to not put your hands in your pockets or behind your back because this will makes you appear stiff.

8. Stalk Everyone                                             Do your research before the interview. If you have the name of your recruiter, find them on Linkedin and look for others who work in the company. With this, it will help you stand out of others and to appear that you really like the job.

9. Smile
Don't forget to smile and eye contact. A smile gives the impression that you are positive and approachable. This also added confidence. Behavior affects the mind as much as mind affects behavior.

Princess Castle Orphanage in Guatemala: WorkPlayLove (non-profit)

It is estimated there are 153 million orphans around the world according to UNICEF. Many of them are living in orphanages or on the streets. All of them are in need of intensive care. From this, over 370,000 orphans are from Guatemala. Most of these children are product of extreme poverty and abuse. Good thing there are organizations where they can call a safe place and one of these is WorkPlayLove.

Kim, Mike and Steve Meila have been business partners with Legalshield for almost 2 decades. Upon arriving at the Hogar Miguel Magone orphanage in Guatemala, they realized that this is what they had been looking for. A place where they can support and give love to children. Hogar Miguel Magone is an orphanage housing 65 boys. The partners were told by the orphanage's directors that they are planning to build another orphanage for girls next to the boys orphanage. With this, brothers and sisters will never have to split up. This led them to open the second orphanage called Maria Auxiliadora Hogar. After 4 years, with the help of volunteers, it is now housing 35 girls who are all excited because of its princess theme. Maria Auxiliadora Hogar is the only castle orphanage in the world. These girls will never be worried about their safety, food and health.

If you want to help these kids on their daily costs including their food, medicine, teachers and psychiatrists, there is a program called Hogar Hero where you can donate. Your donation will not only cover one child but all the girls and the boys as well.

You can visit their website at workplaylove.org

Remember that you only have one opportunity to impress someone especially when you’re applying for a job. These templates are designed to meet your needs. You can easily edit the template according to your likings. There’s two main questions that come up when using Novoresume:

  1. Should you put a picture of your face on your resume?
    1. Most employers will look you up on LinkedIN to see a picture of you anyways so may as well make it convenient for them
